Bafana Bafana triumph before packed Polokwane crowd
Bafana Bafana beat Lesotho 2-0 at a packed Peter Mokaba Stadium, boosting their FIFA World Cup qualification hopes.

POLOKWANE – The atmosphere at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex in Polokwane on Friday evening was electric as local supporters packed the stands, showing their loyalty to Bafana Bafana.
Within 30 minutes of the match against Lesotho, the stadium was filled to capacity. Bafana Bafana secured a 2-0 victory, bringing them closer to qualifying for the Fifa World Cup.
Lesotho fans were also present, with a dedicated group of superfans filling the eastern side of the stadium. While both teams had several chances in the first half, it wasn’t until the 60th minute that Relebohile Mofokeng scored the opening goal for South Africa.

Just three minutes later, Jayden Adams added a second goal, furthering Bafana Bafana’s push for qualification. Coach Hugo Broos stressed the importance of the upcoming match against Benin, which took place on Tuesday. He noted that the match would be challenging and require significant preparation to secure the crucial win.
Limpopo Provincial Government and the Polokwane Municipality congratulated the national team on the victory and highlighted the city’s role as a preferred destination for future events.
Mayor John Mpe previously mentioned that the municipality had worked hard to ensure that the stadium pitch met international standards, despite the high maintenance costs, as part of efforts to attract teams and boost the local economy.
